worklife,
has made me realise that studyinglife may be a little better.
so. its year end once again and 2008 is gone. like, i can still remember last year's watchnight service, and will probably be going again tmr. while people are out partying, is it worth the time to go to church, attend a service?
i guess so. i can already hear inside me THE voice that says "so, this is your happening life eh?". but, what if my presence there made a difference to one of God's decisions? maybe its a sign to Him that i honor Him in this way, and that i dedicate 2009 into His hands. i will not offer Him anything, that costs me nothing.
philip yancey has caught my attention. and i'm 3/4 way into his book "i was just wondering". its truly an awesome book. more a book on questions than answers indeed. and a paragraph i read a few days ago made me see another side of Him.
A child kicks his legs rhythmically through excess, not absence of life. because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. they always say, 'do it again'; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. for grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. but perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. it is possible that God says every morning, 'do it again' to the sun; and every evening, 'do it again' to the moon. it may not be automatic neccessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. it may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.
so as 2009 arrives, we grow a year older. but God is as old as He was yesterday, and is as old as He is today.
be blessed, dear friends, and i'm wishing for you all the heavenly blessings in the coming year :)
love,
sophie
