ICYCE is possibly the best thing that happened to me this year.
one full week of being surrounded by people of all other races, nationalities, speaking different languages. and where there were language barriers, it showed me how not-limited we are when it comes to expressing our love for each other.
one thought: God will never ever ceased to be praised. if one day singaporeans stopped praising God, the malaysians, hongkongers, and indonesians will still be praising. should singaporeans one day cease to pray, the koreans and nigerians will still be praying. should we stop testifying to God's greatness one day, the australians. japanese, cubans and mexicans will still testify. look beyond our borders, friends, for it made me realise that we really are very small.
many had to live out their faith in a way many of us may never have to. at 10 years of age, he walked from one country to another, barefooted. he got chased out of the house and had his car and apartment taken away from him upon his declaration that he just became a christian. and yet, when i go up to them and say "that was a great testimony, thank you", they say "thank God, and God loves you."
i got a glimpse of heaven. "how great our God" and "amazing grace" were sung in each's own tongue, amongst other songs. it was beautiful, to sing "still" in mandarin together with the rest of asia. it was wonderful.
i made new friends there too, one of the things that made me really happy. chatting, fellowshipping, hearing stories. 450 people from 43 countries, each having their own story to tell, but not enough time to hear them out.
it was wonderful.
it was, perfect.

one of the happiest days of my life.

at the end of his speech, the valedictorian asked us all to join him in appreciating our family members. for bearing with us through everything, the mugging periods when we were cranky, and the like. i think that was most meaningful, and i rose to clap heartily for dad & mom, somewhere in the crowd.
11 hours to korea. can't quite believe i'll be in K this time tomorrow haha. fever & flu will be gone tomorrow COME ON.

"Then Christian was glad and lighthearted and said with a merry heart, "He has given me rest through his sorrow, and life through his death. " He stood still a while to look and wonder, for it surprised him that the sight of the cross should thus ease him of his burden. He looked and looked, until the tears streamed down his cheeks."

6 days to graduation

and 8 days to korea

really excited about both, esp korea :) but i think its hitting me that i'm one of 12 representing Singapore, hence must conduct myself well, lest bilateral ties get strained. shall put in more effort into upgrading my korean language skills! okay the more i talk about it the more excited i feel. YESYESYES KOREA TRIP'S COMING :)
walk past the gown everyday. it hangs just next to the master bedroom toilet door. the moment i put it on, plus mortarboard, and wait for my name to be called, what a moment it will be :)
in other news,
ecclesiastes 11:4-6
"Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. "
