a rather sad, heartbreaking day today.

started with colleagues having a meeting about a certain case, and 2 more children are going to be parent-less come friday morning.

and then at approx 5pm, i was about to check my yahoo mail when i saw the news that a 23-year old fashion writer had been found dead. i continued reading, and realised that its highly likely it was my primary school classmate. totally taken aback, it was a speechless few moments. man.

too much about death in one day sighs. i bet when we were 11, we'd never ever think that we might die at 23.

how is it like to be caught by death in a sudden instant? or to realise in that split second that that was it. or would it better to know the exact date and time your life in this world would end?

both are equally scary. maybe its a good thing you can't decide anything about death.

thank God the day ended better, with dinner at blujaz with ed ling & ship. thank God for that.

"Death by radiation has always been humanity's great self-inflicted wound. Nature may have cooked up the unstable elements that contain and emit radioactive energy, but it also took care to hide the stuff away-- burying it in mountains, sealing it in planetary cores. Humans had to work very hard to pick that natural lock. It wasn't until the past seven decades that we understood the elemental energy of radioactive rocks well enough to distill it into pellets, rods and lumps and, in our first demonstration of our newfound power, use it to incinerate two Japanese cities at the end of World War II. "

interesting quote.

so, our annual dinner is over! only started feeling stressed about it the day before--Friday. and of course, throughout Saturday.

my task: look pretty, walk steady.

i used to watch channel 8 star awards and secretly laugh at those ladies walking the important people upstage but TADA it has found its way back to me. seemingly brainless task, but horrible repercussions + embarrassment should you somehow make a mistake.

anyhow, thank God everything went well and i didn't trip on the steps or what not.

on a sidenote, i found it quite interesting that on Friday, my best moments were spent in the office going crazy with preparation for Saturday. one particular colleague is extremely hilarious and office would be so dull without her. haha. in a work email, she scanned a picture of Sid (ice age movie character) and attached it cos one of our colleague looks like it. i totally burst when the big picture emerged. and my manager, who was kept in the loop wrt to work matters, replied and said "you got nothing to do then send this birdie".

made me laugh man! Sid's totally not a birdie.

okok. shall end here.

:)
