worklife,

has made me realise that studyinglife may be a little better.

so. its year end once again and 2008 is gone. like, i can still remember last year's watchnight service, and will probably be going again tmr. while people are out partying, is it worth the time to go to church, attend a service?

i guess so. i can already hear inside me THE voice that says "so, this is your happening life eh?". but, what if my presence there made a difference to one of God's decisions? maybe its a sign to Him that i honor Him in this way, and that i dedicate 2009 into His hands. i will not offer Him anything, that costs me nothing.

philip yancey has caught my attention. and i'm 3/4 way into his book "i was just wondering". its truly an awesome book. more a book on questions than answers indeed. and a paragraph i read a few days ago made me see another side of Him.

A child kicks his legs rhythmically through excess, not absence of life. because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. they always say, 'do it again'; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. for grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. but perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. it is possible that God says every morning, 'do it again' to the sun; and every evening, 'do it again' to the moon. it may not be automatic neccessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. it may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.

so as 2009 arrives, we grow a year older. but God is as old as He was yesterday, and is as old as He is today.

be blessed, dear friends, and i'm wishing for you all the heavenly blessings in the coming year :)

love,
sophie

like i said... its one filled-to-the-brim holiday man.

i've just returned from malaysia! haha it was real fun with all the cousins & relatives i must say :) you get to do the things that you wouldn't otherwise do together. all the jokes that emerged, all the memorable times spent are truly worth so much :)

i'm tired man! & slightly sunburnt. it feels like twelve midnight already when its only 9plus. i think i'm... ferry-lagged.

and i can't believe christmas is really really round the corner! people keep saying they're going christmas shopping but it hasn't hit me that CHRISTMAS IS HERE! and so, i regret to tell you, i think there wont be christmas presents this year :( okay this sounds weird but yeah. its back to work on monday, tues, then weds is half day cos office is celebrating! then. its. christmas. day.

HOW?

nevermind. christmas is not about presents. though i really would like to thank many people for alot of things that happened esp in this month. argh. let me just pray that, God will use stars to form your names in the sky on christmas eve night (what's it called? i know there's a name for it). but i meant to say, stars are awesomely timelessly beautiful things. saw the entire sky filled with them in malaysia, out in the river where fireflies reside. beautiful.

mine eyes art shutting.
church tmr!
and possibly YAM party afterwards.
sharks i wanted to invite someone.

the randomness of thought hath never been this manifest in thine writing.

okay bye.

random thoughts.

awesomeness what can i say. camp + birthday surprise (again!)

suffering from lack of sleep from camp & i'm working tmr ohmygoodness.

part one of paper due tomorrow. how?

but the best thing....

a miracle happened today. seriously, a total miracle. ask charis/nat.

during camp i misplaced an $80 receipt. i so couldn't find it even though i knew for a fact i placed it right into the envelope with all the other receipts and money stuff. when i was looking for it i turned the envelope upside down inside out and i searched through everything like looking for gold. i took everything out, put everything back in, went through the whole routine like three times but it still wasn't there. went to log room to find inside plastic bags to no success.

then this morning at frontliners i reached my hand into the envelope to retrieve a handful of receipts to tally, and imagine the shock i got when it just appeared in my hand. like, OMG, how on earth could something like this happen? its a blatant in-your-face miracle that no one can escape from. to me, its as good as jesus turning water into wine. or making the blind see. cos i knew that it really wasn't there but it appeared again.

totally mind-blowing. who can argue with me now that miracles don't happen?
